We love to find new, exciting and emerging brands, so whenever we get chance to take a closer look we jump at the opportunity. Chase 54 are a US based Golf apparel brand, with a simple mentality and message.... "the pursuit of perfection". The 54 in their name refers to the perfect score of 18-under par on a par 72 course, something that is yet to be achieved by a professional in a Tour event. The brand has over 30 years of retail manufacturing experience, and strive to bring you the greatest quality, both on and off the course. The high quality fabrics that are used are actually created by Chase 54 themselves, which means the attention to detail and quality starts from the outset. It is hard for any golf apparel brand to stand out in such a crowded market, but Chase 54's attention to detail and pursuit of the perfect clothing line is certainly what sets them apart.
To get a good insight into the brand, we recently tried out the the Luke Mockneck Pullover, Pax Shirt, Finley Shirt, Dalton Shorts and Norris Pants. The whole range has a great style, design, fit and the attention to detail is brilliant, with some fantastic extra touches and features that finish each garment off extremely well. Chase 54 are relatively new to the apparel market, but they are fantastic at what they do. They incorporate unique technology into all their apparel to specifically suit different weather conditions. Their whole range is fantastically designed, looks great and fits brilliantly, for a relatively new golfing apparel company, Chase 54's clothing is up there with the best.
Luke Mockneck Pullover
The Luke Pullover is a great addition to your golfing wardrobe, the 'your fit' design means it is neither baggy or fitted, which is brilliant for keeping you warm but not getting on the way when you swing. The Dryfuze™ technology, means it can be worn all year round as a mid layer garment. With the heat retention technology in the yarn, meaning your body heat is locked in for extended warmth. The Luke pullover is not too thick, so if there is a little bit of a chill in the air, but its not too cold you can easily wear it without being too hot.
The Luke pullover is perfect for those late summer evenings, or early mornings, when there is just a bit of a fresh feel in the air and you don't want something that is too heavy or thick. It is extremely lightweight yet warm, which is great for keeping in your bag incase the it does become cooler. The front pockets mean you can store small items you man need, and they don't get in the way as some pockets can. The feel, style and quality of the Luke Pullover is fantastic and it certainly does the job of keeping the heat in, whilst looking great and offering you the freedom needed to swing.
The Pax is one of our favourite designs in the collection, and comes in some brilliant colours. The Dreyfuze Elite™ technology means the shirt is extremely breathable, moisture-wicking and quick drying. It offers a UPF 30+ for great sun protection, and also incorporates the 'your fit' technology, so it neither baggy or fitted.
The Pax is an extremely well designed, and feels great on. We love the little extra touches of the faux pocket on the chest, the structured collar and the white piping. This attention to detail really finishes the shirt off extremely well, and it is little touches like this, along with their fantastic attention to detail that make Chase 54 stand out. The sleeves are little more fitted than the Finley model, offering a great fit in all the right places. The fit and sizing of the shirt was brilliant and in line with what we would expect, I usually take a medium and I did so in the Chase 54 range.
The Finley is certainly more of a classic style Golf shirt, yet includes the same great technology seen in all Chase 54 products. I played in extremely hot conditions wearing this one, and the fundamental dryfuze technology certainly did the job. The technology is moisture wicking and breathable, which is what every golfer needs in hot conditions.
The fit is a little different to the Pax shirt, due to the variance in fabrics but it still feels brilliant and I would say a little lighter. The Finley incorporates a polyspandex pinstripe design, which is extremely breathable and feels great on, the materials are also great to wash as they don't fade quickly. Again the 'your fit' design is brilliant and is neither baggy or fitted, which is perfect when on the course, and offers brilliant freedom of movement yet structure at the same time. The sleeves of the Finley are a little looser than the Pax, but not so much so that you look like you are back in the 90's.
In a hot climate shorts are a must, and finding the right shorts can sometimes be tricky. You don't want them too loose, long or baggy yet you need the freedom to move around, and they certainly need to be breathable and comfortable. The Dryfuze technology meant the Dalton shorts were extremely breathable and comfortable in hot conditions, and the material is both flexible and structured for a great fit. The brilliant precision and fit is mostly down to the 'your fit' technology, which is incorporated in all Chase 54 clothing. I also loved that the inseam length of the dalton shorts, it is 8" apposed to traditional 10", meaning they are cut just above the knee, which give a bit more of a modern look and style. The gripper tape waistband also meant my shirt was always tucked in, without having to tighten my belt or re-dress myself.
The design, features, style and attention to detail of the Dalton shorts are outstanding, and certainly all I look for when choosing shorts to play in. There are two deep front pockets which can hold all valuables safely, a smaller pocket on the bottom right and two well sized back pockets for cards, gloves, yardage books or whatever else you need in there. The back right pocket is also lined, which means it is waterproof and stain resistant, which I personally think is a great feature. This means your card will stay dry, or should your pen leak, it will not stain the material.
The Norris trousers, are extremely comfortable and brilliantly designed. They incorporate Dryfuze technology and offer a breathable and flexible fit, that does not restrict movement. The gripper band and design features are similar to those seen in the Dalton shorts, offering deep pockets and also a lined, waterproof card pocket. They are a great fit, look brilliant and feel fantastic on or off the course. The Military cut hem of the trousers means that they can easily fit over golf shoes, and don't look awkward in the process. I can sometimes find it difficult to wear trousers when playing in hot conditions, as they can feel stuffy, thick and offer little breathability at times, but the Chase 54 technology and materials are both moisture wicking and extremely breathable in hot or humid conditions.
Chase 54 are certainly all about attention to detail, and you can not only feel it, but see it when you wear their apparel. There are some great little features that give each item that extra touch over competitors, combined with brilliant designs and style. The clothing is not only well designed and looks great but its is also up there with the best in terms of technology and innovation. You can really tell that attention to detail is a must for Chase 54, and that there has been a lot of thought gone into the design process of each garment, from the materials they use, to the finished product.
It has never been as important to look and feel great on the course. The Chase 54 range certainly makes you do that and more!
