Day 4 of the WGC Cadillac Matchplay did not disappoint with some great matches going down to the wire and some big victories.
Day 4 was meant to see all last 16 and quarter final games finished but extra holes and a lack of light meant that Rory McIlroy and Paul Casey could not finish. 21 holes could not seperate the Europeans and they will have to finish off their match early on Sunday morning to see who faces Jim Furyk.
Danny Willett, Gary Woodland and Jim Furyk have alsready booked their place in the semi finals. Willet showed some great form to beat fellow countrymen Lee Westwood 3&2 and Tommy Fleetwood 4&2. A good finish this week would see him boost his world rankings having broken into the top 50 this year.
The extra holes for McIlroy meant he was unable to fly to Las Vegas for the MayPac fight, which may have upset the world No1 who said her wouldn't miss the fight for anything.
I thought that Hunter Mahan was going to make it through to the final stages but a defeat by John Senden in the last 16 ended his great run.
I have been extremely impressed with the form of Danny Willett this week and this season, he is showing that he is ready to take up the challenge of becoming ranked in the top 50 and I hope he continues his great form and books his place in the European Ryder cup team.
