After a 6 month lay off, American Dustin Johnson has come back stronger than ever!
Johnson had a 6 month break to resolve 'personal issues' but seems to have come back a stronger player and person for it.
Last week he was in contention for the title at the Honda and this week he took the title at the Cadillac in only his fifth event since he returned. It seems like the work he has been putting in off the course has really been paying off. The course at Doral did suit the longer hitters, with JB Holmes and Bubba Watson finishing just behind Johnson at the top of the leaderboard.
Johnson's impressive final round of 69 got him to 9-under par and 1 shot ahead of JB Holmes, who had built a big lead after the first 2 rounds but struggled on the final day. Bubba Watson did put on the pressure early in his round with a few good birdies but Johnson had the composure over the final 5 holes to seal a comeback victory.
Johnson was met by wife Paulina Gretsky and son Tatum after his win, and in an interview said..
"It means everything, its been a tough road but a really good one. A lot of great things came out of it, my son, me and Paulina are doing great....it just feels awesome to get that W."
I like Dustin Johnson's style of play and he is definitely a crowd puller for sure, he has challenged for majors many times without a win, so maybe this might be his year?
